PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The students will do a novel study of 'Fantastic Mr. Fox'. They will read the novel, study the web for facts on foxes and collect theinformation on data bases, set up a data base to write an "About the Author", and create a slide show to illustrate the story to present at the Author's Celebration and to share through E-Mail with Kentucky penpals.
GRADE LEVEL: Year 3
ACTIVITIES:
1. Students will read 'Fantastic Mr. Fox' in 14 sessions. One set of partners will be assigned to write that 'chapter' using Clarisworks to build a slide show presentation.
-chapters 1&2, 7&8, 11&12, and17&18 will be combined to suit 14 groups.
-a minimum of 4 pages with illustrations and a minimum of 3 sentences is required for each 'chapter'.
-the team will start writing their chapter as soon as we read each chapter.
-students will use 7 machines thus seven sets of partners will work at the terminals while the other 7 partners will work in a workbook made from a novel study book.
2. Students will find the facts about foxes from the Internet using the web page that will be set up listing the information bases. They will enter the information on a database.

-interesting facts (are they really sly?)
3. Students will study the Author--Roald Dahl --and then do an "About the Author" for themselves using a word processor.
